NASHVILLE -- This time, the Pittsburgh Steelers beat their struggling opponent. Oleksandr Zinchenko Jersey . Ben Roethlisberger threw a 12-yard touchdown pass to Antonio Brown with 9:01 left, and the Steelers edged the Tennessee Titans 27-24 on Monday night. The Steelers (7-4) staged an impressive rally in the second half to take sole possession of second in the successful AFC North heading into their bye. LeVeon Bell ran for 204 yards and a TD, and William Gay returned an interception 28 yards for a score. Shaun Suisham kicked two field goals. I think were only going to get stronger, Bell said. Weve obviously still got to get better, work as a team. But were going to enjoy the week off. Its well deserved, well needed. Were going to enjoy it and get back to work when we need to. Roethlisberger had never beaten the Titans at LP Field, missing the Steelers win here in 2010. With Bell running through and over the Titans, the Steelers took the pressure off Big Ben by holding the ball for 39 minutes, 49 seconds with a 386-312 edge in total offence. He got rolling, and we couldnt make a play and thats disappointing, Titans coach Ken Whisenhunt said. Thats the way it went. We tried a lot of different things to try to stop their run game. The Titans (2-8) blew a 24-13 lead in their fourth consecutive loss. They sacked Roethlisberger five times and intercepted a pass in the end zone. Zach Mettenberger threw for 263 yards and two touchdown passes, and fellow rookie Bishop Sankey ran for another score. But Tennessees offence fizzled in the fourth quarter. When Pittsburgh got the ball back with 6:58 left, the Steelers didnt give it back and knelt out for the win. We feel very close, Mettenberger said. Were not doing enough to win football games. Thats the bottom line and the most important thing. But rookie running back, rookie left tackle, rookie quarterback, rookie middle linebacker. Were doing a lot of good things. Mettenberger and the Titans got off to an awful start, and then erased a 10-0 deficit with an impressive flurry. Suisham also had a 49-yarder for the first score of the game, and Gay picked off Mettenberger on the Titans first offensive play and returned it for the TD. Roethlisberger had been intercepted only five times this season. But the Titans sacked him three times in the second quarter, and Jason McCourty picked off a pass intended for Brown in the end zone with 44 seconds left in the first half. The Titans called timeout, and then Mettenberger threw to a wide-open Nate Washington, who beat Gay with a stutter-step on his way to a career-best 80-yard touchdown reception. Washington, who won two Super Bowl rings in Pittsburgh, wagged his finger at the crowd once he got to the 25. Mettenberger added a 4-yard TD pass to Chase Coffman in the third quarter, capping an 11-play drive for a 24-13 lead. The Steelers responded with Bells 5-yard TD run on the first play of the fourth, and Roethlisbergers TD to Brown was enough for the win. Brown had nine receptions for 91 yards in another solid performance. Two of Pittsburghs losses this season have come against Tampa Bay and the Jets, teams with a combined four wins, and coach Mike Tomlin is 1-8 all-time against teams with a winning percentage of .200 or worse. Former Titans veteran Mike Munchak coached the Steelers offensive line in his first game in his NFL career against the franchise he spent 32 seasons with as a Hall of Fame offensive lineman and coach. The Titans let Munchak go in January after going 22-26 in three seasons as head coach, and Munchaks offensive line opened big holes for Bell. I was just able to get to the second level and make a couple of guys miss, keep my feet moving and try to get first downs and hold on to the ball, Bell said. Thats all I was thinking about. Whisenhunt, who won a Super Bowl ring as offensive co-ordinator with Pittsburgh, took over the Titans in January, trying to turn around a franchise that last won a playoff game in January 2004. Whisenhunt already is on his third quarterback in Tennessee in Mettenberger. Tennessee was without tight end Delanie Walker, who wasnt cleared after he suffered a concussion last week in Baltimore. That left the Titans with three tight ends not on the roster at the start of the season, including Coffman who was here during the preseason. The Steelers were without four defensive starters, including Troy Polamalu. It was the coldest game at LP Field with the temperature at kickoff at 25 degrees. Wilfried Bony Jersey .C. -- Al Jefferson knows few people will be giving the Charlotte Bobcats a chance to upset the Miami Heat in the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs. Pablo Zabaleta Manchester City Jersey . Replay backed him up. Adeiny Hechavarria immediately followed the ruling with a go-ahead sacrifice fly for the Miami Marlins, who held on to beat the Seattle Mariners 3-2 on Sunday completing a three-game sweep. http://www.mancityproshop.com/authentic-willy-caba...ty-jers ey/ . Some will say that Martin is too sensitive while others will say that it is part of the way football is in the locker room. But to have to absorb what was said to him for any rational and intelligent person is too much. BOSTON -- The game ball that Red Sox right-hander Anthony Ranaudo will treasure from his major league debut wasnt the one from the final out in Bostons 4-3 victory over the New York Yankees. Instead, his teammates made sure to save the ball he threw to strike out Derek Jeter in the third inning -- Ranaudos first major league strikeout. "I think thats pretty cool," said Ranaudo, who grew up in New Jersey rooting for Jeter and the Yankees. "Thats something that will be part of my life the rest of my life." Ranaudo (1-0) allowed two runs and four hits over six innings while winning his first start in the majors. He made a few mistakes, including a solo homer Carlos Beltran hit into the New York bullpen in the fourth, but scattered them well enough for Boston to hang on after taking a 2-0 lead in the third. "He did a good job keeping the game under control," Boston manager John Farrell said. Ranaudo walked four and struck out two. The first was against Jeter, who followed up with a homer off reliever Junichi Tazawa over the Green Monster to pull the Yankees within 4-3. The Red Sox, mired deep in last place in the AL East after losing eight of nine, have won three straight over the Yankees. "Weve got to win games this time of year," New York third baseman Chase Headley said. "Thats where the frustration comes." Koji Uehara pitched the ninth for his 22nd save. Boston got to Chris Capuano (1-2) in the third when Brock Holt hit a one-out triple down the right-field line, then scored when Dustin Pedroia followed with a drive over Jacoby Ellsburys head in centre. The ball bounced into the stands for a ground-rule double and Pedroia scored easily from second on a single by David Ortiz. After Beltrans 13th homer of the season cut the lead to 2-1, the Red Sox got an RBI single from David Ross in the fourth and added an insurance run in the seventh when Pedroia singled home Mookie Betts, who led off with a single and advanced on a sacrifice. Capuano pitched 6 1-3 innings for New York, allowing four runs and eight hits. He struck out five and didnt walk a batter. FURTHER REVIEW Ellsbury was called out attempting to steal second after a leadoff walk in the sixth. The Yankees challenged and won, leading to a run wheen Ellsbury scored on Beltrans single to give Boston a 3-2 lead. Kevin De Bruyne Jersey . Ellsbury appeared to have an extra-base hit in the eighth on a drive to his former territory in the centre-field triangle, but was robbed on a lunging catch by Betts -- an infielder whos getting a chance in the outfield. "For a guy whos transitioning positions, its a very athletic play," Farrell said. BIG MONTH FOR BIG PAPI Ortiz led the majors with 25 RBIs in July. He got August off to a good start by driving in one on Friday, giving him 78 RBIs for the season. MOVING DAY The Yankees made three roster moves before the game, designating INF Brian Roberts for assignment and optioning INF Zelous Wheeler and OF Zoilo Almonte to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. The Red Sox had some moves of their own, adding OF Yoenis Cespedes and OF Allen Craig to the roster; recalling Betts, LHP Tommy Layne, Ranaudo and RHP Alex Wilson from Triple-A Pawtucket; activating 3B Will Middlebrooks from the 15-day disabled list; placing OF Shane Victorino on the 15-day disabled list (retroactive to July 31) due to a lower back strain and designating 1B/OF Mike Carp for assignment. TRAINERS ROOM Yankees: Michael Pineda will start in Triple-A Scranton on Sunday with a limit of about four innings or 65 pitches. Doctors will evaluate Masahiro Tanaka on Monday, three weeks after he was given a platelet-rich plasma injection in his torn ulnar collateral ligament as an alternative to surgery. Red Sox: Middlebrooks returned for Boston after missing 67 games with a broken finger and started at third base. Ross came up limping when he grounded out to end the sixth. He left the game and was replaced by Christian Vazquez. ON DECK Yankees: Shane Greene (2-1) makes his fifth start in the same ballpark where he made his major league debut on April 24. Greene got plenty of run support as the Yankees routed the Red Sox 14-5. Red Sox: Allen Webster (1-0) makes his second start of the season as the Red Sox try to re-establish the rotation after trading starters Jon Lester, John Lackey, Jake Peavy and Felix Doubront. Webster went 5 1-3 innings last week against the Rays, allowing two runs and five hits and getting the victory as Boston snapped a five-game losing streak.
